Humidifier Analysis

Steam Humidifiers

Steam Humidifiers eliminate dry winter air and the discomforts caused by it such as throat irritations and dry itchy skin.
Humidifiers increase moisture in the air by basically two ways. The first way, used by cool mist humidifiers, is by producing cool, fog-like mist. The second is by means of steam.

The cool mist humidifier uses an impeller that creates an environment that could make one feel sick rather than better. The reason for this is that when tap water in this type of humidifiers gets stagnant, it becomes a fertile breeding ground for bacteria. And when the infected tap water is converted into mist and dispersed, bacteria and minerals are scattered along with it. This limitation of cool mist humidifier is eliminated by these humidifiers.

The process involved in this type of humidifier is boiling the water to make vapor, which is free from bacteria and minerals. This is done by using a heating element. However, as the water quickly dries off, scaly deposits are left on in the water reservoir, which becomes a potential breeding ground for microbes. However, in order to prevent the build-up of these deposits, it is recommended that the water tank from the humidifier be regularly cleaned and scrubbed to make it free from mineral deposits. Regular cleaning maintains the efficiency of these humidifiers.

Since the process of restoring the moisture back in the environment is quite simple and natural in case of these humidifiers, it is preferred over the other types of humidifiers. Moreover, a Steam Humidifier is quiet cheap and efficient. These humidifiers usually include a medicinal inhalant that can be used along with to quickly relieve nasal congestion, which is very helpful for asthma patients.

Steam Humidifier does not facilitate mold and bacterial growth. The steaming method does not cause minerals to be dispersed in the air. So, tap water can be used with these devices making them a lot less expensive to operate. Steam Humidifiers are the most eco-friendly way to humidify because it uses up to 70 percent less water, while delivering more moisture than any other traditional whole house humidifiers.

Some popular models of this type of humidifier are as follows.

TrueSTEAM Humidifiers: This model is manufactured by well known Honeywell company. It works by producing its own steam independent of equipment operation. It is the most eco-friendly way to humidify the home, because it uses up to 70 percent less water.

Armstrong Series 1000 Stainless Steel Humidifier: This model proves to be an ideal choice for sensitive environments where pure demineralized and deionized water need to be used to generate clean steam. Armstrong uses stainless steel for all wet parts, the Series 1000 prevents problems caused by corrosion and subsequent carryover of corrosion byproducts.

With all models of these humidifiers, except for table top varieties, tap water is piped directly into a steam unit so that manual filling is not required. Because steam is evaporated water, it does not contain bacteria or mineral deposits that might contaminate the air.
