Humidifier Analysis

Skuttle Humidifiers

Since 1917, Skuttle Humidifiers have been in business and have been providing healthy and comfortable whole house humidification. They manufacture humidifiers to fit a number of floor plans, water types and heating systems.
In dry months these add moisture to the air and help maintain a healthy humidity level and hence reduce dust and bacteria. They help in relieving dry skin and throats; therefore help people to sleep better.

The types of humidifiers manufactured and marketed by Skuttle are:

Steam Humidifiers – They work on all heating systems and are ideal when stabilized humidity is essential. It has its own heating source and the furnace fan is operated independent of the home’s heating system. They require very little water but use a significant amount of electricity. The standard models are 60-1 and 60-2 and come with an electronic humidistat which adjusts automatically. The models F60-1 and F60-2 include a chlorine removal filter and a flushing timer over and above the features of standard models. The model 60BC-1 does not require a duct.

Drum Humidifiers – A humidistat monitors the humidity of a house and switches on or switches off the humidifier on that basis. A rotating drum is used to raise water from the pan to air, and then warmed and distributed as required. These are the most economical and environmental friendly humidifiers as they use very little water and electricity. The models available are 45, 90 and 190.

Under Duct Humidifiers – They use the flow through principle for effective humidification. Water consumption is low and the electricity consumption is the same as a 25 watt bulb. The models include the 55UD (under duct flow through) and 86UD (under duct drum). These are environmentally safe as they do not produce harmful particles which may later be released into the air.

Spray Humidifiers – These again use a humidistat to monitor the humidity of a room and are switched on or switched off depending on the requirement. They release a fine mist straight into the heating system, which is evenly distributed into the room using the heating system’s furnace. These are economical and environmental friendly humidifiers as they use very little water and electricity. The models available are 592-9 and 592-22.

Flow-Thru Humidifiers – These are ideal for narrow ductwork, short blower cycles and low furnace temperatures. They are good to look at as they are placed in smart thermoplastic cabinets. As soon as the humidity level in a room drops, dry air in the humidifier is passed through water and pushed into the room. This helps maintain the humidity at the desired level. They use a lot of water and electricity as much as a 25 watt bulb. The models available are 2000 , 2001, 2002, 2100, 2101 and 2102.

Such is the quality of Skuttle humidifiers that a home fitted with them is called a “Happy House”
